Abstract
The similarity and differences between real solids and superlattices for the localization induced by an electric field is discussed. In response to recent experimental results regarding the onset of negative differenial conductivity, the regimes of applicability of the Esaki-Tsu and Tsu-Döhler conditions are given. Keywords
