Search for the Ground State ofH5by means of theH3(t,p)Reaction

Abstract
Proton spectra from the H3(t,p)H5 and He3(t,p)He5 reactions have been measured with a triton bombarding energy of 22.25 MeV. Narrow T=32 states in the A=5 system were not observed in either reaction. However, in the H3(t,p) reaction broad peaks appeared in the proton spectra at energies consistent with a H5 state 1.8 MeV above the t+2n mass. The possibility that this peak can be attributed to the ground state of H5 is discussed.
