Abstract
Attention is called to the fact that hyperparathyroidism can produce calcification in articular and fibrocartilage similar to that reported in pseudogoutandchondrocalcinosis articularis. This realization may lead to the detection of a potentially curable disease. Associated hyperuricemia has been noted in the 2 cases which form the basis of this report and in several others found in the literature. Repeat radiographic studies 10 years after removal of the parathyroid adenoma showed no change in the degree of calcification in one of the reported cases.
