Experimental Determination of theBe12Ground-State Mass

Abstract

The ground-state mass of ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Be}$ was measured using the reaction ${}_{}{}^7{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Li}$(${}_{}{}^7{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Li}$, 2p) ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Be}$ in a kinematically complete experiment. The mass excess was determined to be 24.95 ± 0.10 MeV. An excited state of ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{Be}$ is identified at an excitation energy of 0.81 ± 0.10 MeV.
