Abstract
Adults of the cabbage maggot, Hylemya brassicae (Bouché), were sterilized and oviposition was reduced when apholate was introduced into their diet of 10% sugar solution. Concentrations of 1.0% apholate fed for 24, 48, and 72 hours to females suppressed oviposition by 50, 75, and 90%, respectively. Males were sterilized in certain treatments by a 24-hour ad lib. feeding period on 0.5:1 prolate. They were sterilized also by a single feeding of 1.25%.
