Abstract
Human and bovine prothrombin have been compared with respect to methods of prepn. Both can be obtained by employing the Mg (OH)2 adsorption technics. The purified products have been compared with regard to adsorption on barium carbonate, electrophoretic properties, autocatalytic activation, inhibition of autocatalytic activation, activation with thromboplastin, platelets and Ca, u.-v. light absorption curves, specific activity, and stability characteristics. With respect to the above criteria human and bovine materials react in an identical manner. In the ultracentrifuge, bovine prothrombin prepns. were homogeneous, whereas human material of comparable specific activity was not. Keywords
