Abstract
In the isolated perfused frog liver, epinephrine and glucagon produced potassium and glucose losses. Potassium loss preceded the glucose loss and the potassium loss ceased as glucose loss reached a maximum rate. After stimulation and after glucose loss begins to decrease, the liver was able to regain potassium. Both the potassium and glucose losses were influenced by the potassium concentration of the perfusion medium. Potassium loss was accompanied by sodium loss. The dose response to epinephrine in this preparation was similar for both the potassium loss and glycogenolysis.
