Decay kinetics of the 408 nm emission band from Pb2+centres in KI single crystals

Abstract
Measurements of the time-resolved intensity and decay kinetics of the 408 nm emission band for KI:Pb2+ in the 4.2-100 K temperature range are reported. Two fast components and one slow component are observed. The temperature dependences of three decay times are interpreted in the framework of a three-excited-state-level model including multiphonon processes between two radiative and underlying metastable levels. Non-radiative quenching is also included to fit the decrease in overall intensity in the temperature range investigated.
