Abstract
A study of 44 cases of intra-medullary tumor of the brain stem occurring in adulthood is presented. The average age of the patients was 42 years. There was a slight preponderance of female over male patients. A temporary remission of signs and symptoms occurred in 50% of the patients who received radiotherapy. The available data suggest that patients showing a favorable response to irradiation tend to have the longest survival periods. Attention is directed to the not uncommon occurrence of brain stem tumors in adulthood. Keywords
