Abstract
SUMMARY Ovine follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) were tested in the assay using the uterine weight of immature mice 72 hr. after the start of a series of multiple injections of gonadotrophin. Given separately, the two hormones showed dissimilar dose-response curves. When mixed, they potentiated one another. Mixtures in the ratio 80 FSH:20 LH were the most potent and gave considerably greater uterine responses than either of the two gonadotrophins given separately in the same total dose. This effect was repeatable and highly significant statistically. Ovarian weight showed similar though less striking effects in some cases. Keywords
