The Effect of Thiouracil in the Ration of Growing Swine

Abstract
Hogs fed a ration containing 0.25 percent thiouracil consumed 27.5 percent less feed per 100 pounds of gain in body weight than did hogs fed the same ration but containing no thiouracil. The thiouracil-fed hogs made an average daily gain of 1.60 pounds, whereas the control hogs gained 1.23 pounds per day. The inclusion of 0.25 percent of thiouracil in the feed was more effective than either 0.15 or 0.20 percent. Copyright © . .
