CHANGES IN THE FAT PERCENTAGE AND FAT YIELD OF DAIRY COWS WITH INJECTIONS OF AN ANTERIOR PITUITARY PREPARATION1

Abstract
Injs. of an ant. pituitary prep. which increases liver fat and ketosis in laboratory animals caused a marked increase in the % fat of milk and in total fat produced by dairy cows in declining lactation. The milk vol. was likewise increased during the inj. period. Prolactin injected during a subsequent period increased the milk vol. produced but had no effect on the % fat in milk and only slight effect on total fat produced.
