Abstract
Mumps virus was isolated from 8 patients by the direct inoculation of unfiltered saliva, mixed with penicillin and streptomycin, into the amniotic sac of 7-or 8-day chick embryos. Identification of the strains was accomplished by complement-fixation tests and, in 2 cases, by inoculation into monkeys. Keywords
