Abstract
Examination of the unsaponifiable fraction of ox-liver residue (after 50% alcoholic extraction) resulted in the isolation, for the first time from a natural source, of the following compounds: (1) [alpha]-7-hydroxycholesterol, characterized as the dibenzoate; (2) at least 2 (partially purified) digitonin-precipitable alcohols, the "hepatols," M.P. ca. 285 and 265[degree].
