Abstract
No inactivation of thyrotrophin (TSH) was observed after incubation with slices of thyroid, liver, spleen, kidney and muscle from steers, guinea pigs, rats and mice. Iodine, peroxide and pancreatin reduced TSH activity. The inactivation of TSH by iodine and peroxide was reversed, whereas the inactivation of TSH by pancreatin was not reversed, by the addition of l-methyl-2-mercaptoimidazole or methylthiouracil. Complete inactivation of TSH in vivo had occurred at 4 hours in the normal mouse and in the mouse pretreated with l-methyl-2-mercaptoimidazole.Keywords
