Build-Up Measurements on Cobalt-60 Gamma Radiation in Iron and Lead

Abstract
The transmission of gamma radiation from a "point isotropic" source of cobalt-60 through iron and lead has been measured out to a thickness of approximately 15 mean-free-paths. The dose build-up factors derived from the observed transmissions agree satisfactorily with the calculations based on the work of the National Bureau of Standards group and carried out by the Nuclear Development Associates.
