Abstract
The use of a liquid medium .containing Penassay broth, sodium chloride, horse serum and high concentrations of penicillin G faciliated the cultivation of staphylococcal L forms; no addition of agar was necessary. The sediment which appeared in the liquid medium following inoculation with agar blocks containing L colonies contained few "large bodies" and many morphologically indistinct granules. Plating of the sediment onto a suitable hard agar surface resulted in typical L colonies. No reversion to cocci was seen at any time even with the exclusion of penicillin from the medium.
