Electron capture by protons in molecular hydrogen

Abstract
The electron-capture probability is calculated at large scattering angles for proton-H2 collisions between 1 and 20 keV. The molecular approximation for the triatomic H+3 system is used. The transition probabilities are obtained in the impact-parameter approximation. The theoretical results reproduce the essential features of the low-energy experimental data of Lockwood and Everhart (1962).
