Abstract
After intraperitoneal injection of potassium p-nitrophenyl [S35]sulphate to male and female rats, the bulk of the S35 appears in the urine within 24 hr. Up to 30% of the S35 of the original dose appears in the urine as inorganic [s35]sulphate, most of the remainder appearing as ester [S35]-sulphate. Chromatographic examination of the urines shows the presence of at least 10 radioactive sulphate esters in addition to potassium p-nitrophenyl [S35]sulphate. The chromatographic pattern is very similar to that obtained with the urines of rats receiving Na2S35O4 by intraperitoneal injection. After 48 hr., S35 is still present in the tissues. Incorporation of S35 into the chondroitin sulphate of skin and cartilage and into liver taurine has been demonstrated.
