Abstract
The possible influence of intestinal bacteria on the carrier state of Theiler''s virus was investigated. No correlation was demonstrated between the presence of mouse encephalomyelitis virus in the intestines of mice of different ages and the presence or absence of specific strains of intestinal bacteria. The viral content of the intestines was not influenced by changes in the intestinal flora induced by diet or the admn. of chemotherapeutic agents. No definite inhibition was demonstrated against Theiler''s virus or MM virus by culture fluids of representative strains of intestinal bacteria. The localization of paralysis induced in mice by Theiler''s virus varied with different strains. Keywords
