Abstract
A series of puppy hearts was homografted into the necks of adult dogs. The grafts were followed for viability by palpation and by electrocardiograms. Of the grafts studied none functioned longer than one week. Others removed on successive days after transplantation revealed a pattern of failure that suggests that incompatibility to the homografted canine heart is blood-borne.Keywords
