Abstract
Three classical strong‐collision‐mechanism theories of unimolecular reactions, due to Slater, Kassel, and Giddings and Eyring have been rederived using Slater's new approach to rate theory. These derivations show the importance of the gap distribution problem, and help point the way toward further development of a nonlinear theory. Keywords
