Abstract
The intensity of the Compton scattering of x-rays by aluminum has been measured for values of from 0.3 to 0.6 . The method involved a self-consistent separation into the Compton and thermal diffuse scattering of the total intensities of diffuse scattering measured at 300°K and 5°K. The measured Compton scattering is significantly lower than the intensity calculated theoretically. Limitations of the present theories are discussed.
