Abstract
L23 emission bands have been investigated for aluminium alloyed with a sequence of transition and noble metals, and for magnesium alloyed with noble metals. Features in the bands are interpreted in terms of crosstransitions of d-electrons to fill core vacancies in neighbouring A1 or Mg atoms. Keywords
