Neutron-scattering study of phonon linewidths in Pd

Abstract
We have performed an inelastic-neutron-scattering study of the linewidths of selected longitudinal phonons in Pd. We observe a sharp maximum in the widths of LA phonons for . This finding is in qualitative agreement with Pinski and Butler's calculation of the contributions of electron-phonon scattering to phonon linewidths.
