The Influence of a Carcinogenic Compound on the Hepatic Storage of Vitamins

Abstract
Intraperitoneal injections of 1,2,5,6-dibenzanthracene decreased the hepatic storage of vitamin A but not that of vitamins C or D. No vitamin A could be detected, however, in the urine excreted by the treated animals. The inhibition of growth caused by dibenzanthracene in young rats was paralleled by the decrease in hepatic vitamin A. No effect on the calcification of osseous tissues was observed in young rats treated with the hydrocarbon.
