Paper chromatography of porphyrins: some hitherto unrecognized porphyrins and further notes on the method

Abstract
Since the RF values of free porphyrins are inversely proportional to the number of carboxyl groups present, porphyrins may be classified in this manner. The porphyrins present in the meconium of calf, rabbit, civet cat, bactrian camel, sea lion, and man, and urines of the ground squirrels and cases of industrial and exptl. lead poisoning and porphyria (7) were examined. Porphyrins previously unreported which possess 3, 5, 6 or 7 carboxylic functions were observed.
