Abstract
The first case of sickle-cell hemoglobin C disease to be found in Africa is described. A subsequent survey carried out on 200 out-patients of the hospital at Accra showed hemoglobin C to be present in 12% of the individuals tested and 3 more cases of the disease were recognized. In addition, 2 cases of individuals homozygus for hemoglobin C were discovered. Keywords
