Abstract
On the basis of DNA ribopolymer reactivities, differences in content of dC [deoxycytosine]-and dA [deoxyadenosine]-rich sequences were observed among DNA''s from nononcogenic, weakly oncogenic, and highly oncogenic adeno-viruses. SV40 [Simian vacuolating] virus DNA was also analyzed. The oncogenic adenovirus DNA''s contain fewer dC-rich sequences and more dA-rich sequences than DNA''s from the nononcogenic adeno-viruses. SV40 virus DNA contains relatively more dA-rich sequences than the highly oncogenic adenovirus DNA''s. There are few, if any, dC-rich sequences detectable in SV40 virus DNA. These findings may relate to viral oncogenicity.
