Abstract
Macronuclear DNA (Feulgen) in Tetrahymena pyriformis H was determined microspectrophotometrically at different stages of growth. Rapidly growing organisms approximately double their DNA between divisions. Most non-growing organisms contain the double amount. Amitosis distributes DNA quite evenly between sisters, which have very similar generation times.
