Growth Inhibition of the H37 Strain of Human Tubercle Bacilli by β-2-Thienylalanine and Its Prevention by Phenylalanine

Abstract

[beta]-2-thienylalanine inhibited the growth of the H37 strain of human tubercle bacilli, and this inhibition was prevented by added amounts of phenylalanine. These results indicate that the growth of the tubercle bacilli can be affected by interfering with the metabolism of amino acids.
