Abstract
Pregnane-3 alpha; 17 alpha; 20 alpha-triol (I) was isolated from the urine of normal men after hydrolysis with ox-spleen beta-glucuronidase. Partition-chromatographic evidence was obtained to indicate the presence in the urine of normal men of 2 types of acetaldehydrogenic substances besides I. These three acetaldehydrogenic substances are probably present in urine largely in the form of their glucuronides, since their liberation on incubation with ox-spleen beta-glucuronidase prepns. is markedly inhibited in the presence of saccharate. The chromatographic evidence suggests that the urine of normal men may contain about 1-2 mg. I.Keywords
