Abstract
The actinomycete that produces Chloromycetin is descr. as a new sp. for which the name S. venezuelae is proposed. The morphological description is based on the type culture (P. D. 04745); a 2d isolate (Ill. 8-44) was also employed in the physiologic tests. Nuclei in the aerial spores were demonstrated by Giemsa staining. S. venezuelae differs from the somewhat similar S. lavendulae In morphology, nutrition, antibiotic production, susceptibility to actinophages, and serological reactions. Keywords
