Abstract
A calculation of the Frank elastic contants based on the latice model of liquid crystals is presented. The calculated temperature dependence of K11, K22 and K33 is is agreement with experment. The X-ray structue data for p-azoxyanisole is employed to caculated themanitude of 1/2 (K11 + K22) and the result is found to agree with experiment.Keywords
