Abstract
SUMMARY The presence of multinucleate hyphae whose nuclei undergo synchronous division has permitted examination of this process with the electron microscope. Somatic nuclear division was found to be mitotic, with the formation of a cylinder-like spindle apparatus associated directly with highly modified centrosomes. The nuclear membrane does not persist during division and its resynthesis appears to be intimately associated with the centrosomes and the delineation of sister nuclei.
