Conversion Coefficient of the 12.4-keV Transition inSc45

Abstract

The $K$-conversion coefficient ${\alpha }_K$ of the 0.44sec, 12.4-keV state of ${\mathrm{Sc}}^{45}$ was measured by comparison of the intensity of $\gamma$ rays and x rays emitted by the isomer. A proportional counter was used to observe the radiations. A value of ${\alpha }_K=413\mathrm{}\pm 37$ was obtained. The value is in agreement with the theoretical $M2\mathrm{}$ conversion coefficient.
