Resonance in the ReactionC12(C12,p)Na23atEc.m.=19.3MeV

Abstract
Excitation functions of the fifteen most strongly populated states (9<Ex<17 MeV) in the reaction C12(C12,p)Na23 have been studied using a magnetic spectrograph. A resonance structure was observed for transitions to several final states at Ec.m.=19.3 MeV with Γc.m.500 keV. Two particle-bound states in Na23 at 9.08 and 9.84 MeV are particularly strongly populated in the reaction C12(C12,p) at the resonant energy. The further study of the structure of these states may provide an important clue to the nature of the observed C12 + C12 resonance.
