Abstract
films on Grafoil at areal density n≳0.25 atom/A have unusual magnetic properties. This system is modeled as a two-dimensional solid in interaction with a two-dimensional Fermi liquid. A calculation of the magnetic behavior of this model leads to a Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida exchange interaction that has several features in reasonable accord with experiment.
