Abstract
Thin films of self-bound fermions, fermion oceans, show striking evidence of the evolution of the states available to the particles; the susceptibility and specific heat are an oscillatory function of the film thickness. A density-functional theory of the structure and thermodynamics of these films is developed. Keywords
