Abstract
Spectophotometric determination of vitamins A1 and A2 on some Indian fresh-water fish-liver oils were carried out. Liver oils of some species of fresh-water fishes show high amounts of vitamin A2. Chromatographic investigations indicate that most of the vitamin A2 is present in the ester form; a small amount of vitamin A2 alcohol is also present. Vitamin A1, whenever present, is in the alcohol form only. The occurrence of small amounts of [beta]-carotene and lutein (?) in liver oils of fresh-water fishes is of interest. Keywords
