Abstract
Diethylstilbestrol given in daily oral doses of 30.0 mg. to nonpregnant euthyroid subjects had no measurable effect on thyroidal I131 accumulation at twenty-four hours, or on the concentration of serum-precipitable I131 at twenty-four and seventy-two hours following administration of a tracer dose of I131. Renal I131 clearance was unaffected by the treatment. A small increase in the volume of distribution of I131, however, was observed. Changes in these parameters do not appear to account for the difference in the effects upon thyroidal economy of normal pregnancy and the administration of diethylstilbestrol to nonpregnant individuals. Keywords
