A Concept of the Etiological Complex of Deficiency States with Especial Consideration of Conditions

Abstract

The author presents a concept of the etiology of nutritional deficiency states involving the relationship of many environmental conditions, both external and internal. It explains the character, course, and prevalence of such deficiency states and considers the assignment of causality in diagnosis. It suggests that a disease of unknown cause may be nutritional in nature, even though there be no apparent dietary deficiency.
