Abstract
A generalized reciprocity theorem valid for electromagnetic waveguides, ferromagnetic media, elastic piezodielectric media, and drifting carrier streams in semiconductors in the presence of mobile carrier collisions with crystal defects is derived. The reciprocity theorem is the basis for obtaining mode orthogonality and normalization relations and excitation equations of normal modes in electromagnetic and polarized medium waveguides. The excitation equations thus obtained are reduced to the form of coupled−mode equations. Keywords
