THE EFFECT OF THYROXIN UPON THE METABOLISM OF ISOLATED NORMAL AND MALIGNANT TISSUE

Abstract
The metabolism of isolated tissues was determined in the Warburg apparatus. Thyroxin, injected in vivo, elevated the metabolism of liver tissue 20%, but the metabolism of parasitic tumor tissue in the same animals fell an average of 15%. This reduction was noted in both transplanted sarcoma and carcinoma.
