Widths of Rotational Lines of an Asymmetric-Top Molecule SO2. III Broadening by Dipolar Gases

Abstract

Widths of six rotational lines of SO₂, broadened by OCS, have been measured. The self‐broadened widths of 10 lines have also been measured. For the OCS‐broadening case, the linewidths have also been calculated theoretically on the basis of the Anderson theory, and the relative importance of different interaction mechanisms has been assessed. The calculated linewidths do not agree with the observed linewidths.
