Abstract
The methionine derivative (S)-S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet) is apparently an important regulator of the Lys-sensitive aspartate kinase of higher plants [Pisum sativum, Cucumis melo, Hordeum vulgare and Vicia faba] and this regulatory mechanism is highly conserved. There is a major synergistic interaction of the 2 nutritionally deficient amino acids Lys and Met to inhibit their own syntheses at the primary regulatory step in the pathway. Keywords
