NALOXONE DECREASES FOOD INTAKE IN OBESE HUMANS

Abstract
Food intake decreased with a 15 mg naloxone infusion in obese humans but not in lean controls or obese subjects given 2 mg. Glucose and insulin levels did not differ from control during naloxone infusion alone or with meal stimulation. Endogenous opiates may contribute to obesity in humans but probably not through changes in insulin secretion.
