Evidence for magnetic surface reconstruction from ferromagnetic resonance studies of EuS films

Abstract

Schwob, Tachiki, and Everett have studied the ferromagnetic resonance spectrum of thin EuS films, to find effective pinning fields at the surface that exhibit very strong temperature dependence well below the bulk Curie temperature. We suggest these data provide evidence for the phenomenon of surface spin reconstruction, and propose further experiments to check this notion.
