Abstract
Radioactive iron59 injected intraven. disappears from the plasma of patients with hepatitis faster than normally. 70-95% of this administered iron appears in the circulating red cells in 2 weeks. This increased plasma clearance of iron, which is not the result of increased excretion of the radioactive iron by the kidneys or gastrointestinal tract, may be related to increased red cell production.Keywords
