Abstract
The insulin requirement of man after total pancreatectomy is by far smaller than clinical experience with the treatment of diabetes would suggest. Observations on 2 patients are reported who were controlled with less than 50 u. insulin daily at a carbohydrate intake of 150 to 200 gs. This is of importance for the post-operative management of patients after pancreatectomy. It may have significance also in any consideration of the etiology of human diabetes mellitus. Keywords
